Fear of Losing Your Love

The Aeneid of Virgil is a Latin epic poem that sequels the story of Iliad of Homer. They both contain a lot of battles, hardships, sacrifices, religious rites, and patriotism. They also have couples that truly love each other. One of the couples in Aeneid is Creusa and Aeneas, while one of the couples in Iliad is Andromache and Hector. All of them are Trojans that truly love their homeland and tried their best to prevent the Greeks from taking over their land.

In Aeneid, Creusa pleads Aeneas to just stay with her and their son Ascanius and not to take part in the Trojan War. While in Iliad, Andromache pleads Hector to stay with her and their baby and not to fight in the Trojan War, too. Both men still participated in the Trojan War and fought valiantly. But while the war is going on, Hector was killed by Achilles the day before the treachery of the Greeks are done. While Creusa was killed the night that the Greeks came out of their wooden horse. Both Aeneas and Andromache was left sorrowful because of the loss of their loved ones.

Losing the love of your life is indeed very tragic. Even thinking of losing your love is quite sad. But even if our love may leave us and have the tendency for them to die, just try to think that they will still come back to us and they just need to do that. Just think that they will keep their promise and come back safely to our arms.

Sacrifice

The Latin epic poem Aeneid of Virgil has many themes. Love, religion, patriotism, and most of all, success. In the end, Aeneas won the battle against the Latins even though he had so many hardships and losses. He became victorious and built the foundations of Rome. He is a hero that saved his race and is the founder of the most glorious empire the world ever had.

Before Aeneas became victorious, he experienced so many hardships. He lost two wives, a plenty of good friends, his homeland, and his beloved father. Also, powerful goddess is always trying to kill him. But even if he had so many losses, he took it positively. He just thought that he have to win for his sacrifices not to go to waste. In the end, his sacrifices might became so proud of him for he just did things that helped shaped the future for the better.

We cannot taste sweet victory without sacrifices. Sacrifices are needed to win whether we like it or not. We have to give up something to achieve what we want. It is a part of life that we cannot remove. Sacrifices aren't made to make us suffer, but to tell us that even if we lose something, it is only natural and it is just okay because after all the pain that we experienced in sacrificing something, is the victory waiting at the end of the challenge.

A Sorrowful Defeat

The Book 2 of the Latin epic poem Aeneid of Virgil is about Aeneas, the leader of the remaining Trojans, telling Dido, the queen of Carthage, how Troy fell and how they ended up on the shores of Carthage. It revolves on the tragic experience of Aeneas the night that Troy was invaded by the Greeks. It is a sad documentation of how Aeneas' sufferings and hardships began.

I felt pity on Aeneas as he narrates seeing his homeland being destroyed, friends and families being killed, and sweet memories of his native land being ruined. I can't imagine losing a friend or family, most of all seeing their deaths with my own eyes. I also realized that Aeneas is so brave because it would take a lot of courage to still stay strong after losing his wife and his homeland.

Losing is not bad. Yes, it is painful but losing teaches us lessons about life. Lessons that remind us not to  commit the same mistake again and not to lose for the second time. Losing is part of our life. A part that may be bring us victory or destroy us, depending on the way we look at it.

Mysterious Smile

Art. A very broad part of our world that deals with the beauty of our world and about different aspects of life. Art is a world in itself, a world as round and full of changeable things as the world we live in and like the Earth, is built up of many distinct parts. Some of it are paintings, sculptures, and structural designs. Some are plain, other complex, and some are even controversial.

One controversial work of art is Leonardo da Vinci's panting, "Mona Lisa". The so called 'enigmatic smile' of Madam Lisa in the painting are still boggling the minds of many art critics and many people of what may be the reason behind the smile. For me, the smile on the mademoiselle's face may have been made because she is seeing or thinking something happy making her smile. She may have seen the painter, Leonardo, did a lot of funny things or Leonardo might be telling her jokes or telling her stories that made her remember something happy or funny, thus making her smile.

Art is one of the oldest inventions, even older than the first village. It is present in almost every part of our everyday life. From the music that we hear while taking a bath in the morning up to the TV drama show that we watch before going to sleep. It is a very important part of our world. It is one of the reflections of the different kinds of life that each and everyone of us have. We should cherish it for the generations to come for them to bask in the beauty of art, beauty of our world, and the complexity of life.

An Afternoon with a King

History. A subject that mos people hates because of so many dates, places, and people that we have to remember that are being studied in this subject. But for me, History is exciting because it takes you to wonderful places without leaving the classroom and lets you know about interesting facts about the past that helped in shaping the world today. But most of all, it lest us know important people and how they helped in changing the course of history because of their deeds.

If I could meet a historical person, i want it to be King Leonidas, a former king of Sparta, Greece. He is a very bold and valiant king who sacrificed his life for the sake of his motherland, Greece. We would hangout on the swing at our backyard and talk about his battle against the Persian army of Xerxes and how every male child of Sparta is trained to become a skillful warrior, while eating spaghetti. Then, I will teach him how to play the role playing game called Defense of the Ancients or DOTA and he will be amazed because there are characters who are Greek mythical creatures and a character named Zeus who is the Greeks chief god.

The past is like the childhood of the present. Like our childhood, the past contains happy and sad memories, but mostly of fun and excitement. It is fun to study it for it tells lessons about life. They say that "History repeats itself", but I don't believe it. Because History contains bad happenings, and we could avoid repeating the mistakes of History if we just study it, and make the right decision that will change our future for the better.

The Six Common Sins in School

School. Our second home. The place where our knowledge is hammered and forged to guide and help us in our lives. A place where we spent almost one-fourth to one-third of our lives. But not only good things are learned in school. Bad things are done by those students who are not responsible enough in studying.

In our school, bad things are committed by some students too. These are just some of the bad things but they are the major ones. So let's have a look on the students that do these bad things and the consequences in doing it.

FIRST TRIANGLE: THE LATES

After entering the school gate, THE LATES are spotted. They have committed the sin Tardiness. They are aligned in rows and are being punished by the PE teacher and a very strict disciplinarian, Sir Tom, by scolding them about discipline and how it can help in improving an individual. Here, we can see David, who woke up late because of watching late night TV shows. He didn't studied a single lesson last night.

After being punished by Sir Tom, David now goes to his classroom and the second triangle.

SECOND TRIANGLE: THE LAZY STUDENTS

David enters his classroom and sees most of his classmates cramming for assignments. They are THE LAZY STUDENTS. David joins them for he don't have assignments too. Their moves was fast and accurate for they know that they have limited time. And while everyone is busy, the guardian of the triangles appeared - the Teacher. As their punishment, they are to clean in their respective areas and David is assigned to clean the plant box.

After cleaning, they returned to their classroom and continued their first subject. David sits at the dark side of the room, the third triangle.

THIRD TRIANGLE: THE COPIERS

The teacher gave a surprise quiz. David didn't study so he don't know how to answer the given problems. He saw some of his classmates who didn't study too looking on the answers of those who know the answers. They are THE COPIERS. They copied every answer of those responsible students that know the answer to the problems. David imitated them and he copied too. The Teacher saw them and as their punishment, they received a zero on their quiz.

The quizzes are now checked and scores are being dictated. Then, David noticed something about the dictated scores.

FOURTH TRIANGLE: THE FALSE SCORERS

David noticed some students, including his seatmates, that dictated scores a lot higher than their true scores. They are THE FALSE SCORERS. They always change their low scores into high scores for them to have higher grades. A responsible student told the teacher about their doing an as a punishment, they received a zero score on the quiz too, and responsible students are made to sit beside them for them not to do the deed again.

The first and second subjects are now over and is already recess. David goes to the canteen and on his way back, he saw another sin.

FIFTH TRIANGLE: THE BULLIES

David saw a big male student forcing a smaller male student to hand over the smaller student's food or he will be beaten up if he refused to the order of the bigger student. The bigger student is one of THE BULLIES. They think that because they are big and strong, they can get whatever they want whenever and wherever they want it. The Teacher saw him and as a punishment, he is scolded by the Guidance Counselor an the bad thing that he did will be written on his records.

SIXTH TRIANGLE: THE CRAB MENTALS

David returned to his classroom. The Teacher grouped their class into six groups and had a group activity. After a few minutes, one group is already done. David's group asked them to help them understand what to do but they did not pay attention to them and just kept on chatting. They are THE CRAB MENTALS. They think of only themselves and would do anything just to be on the top of the class and be higher than others. The Teacher learned about this and as a punishment, deductions are made to their score.

Class hours are now over and the students went home. David arrived home early and ate his dinner. After eating his dinner, David rested for a while then did his assignments and studied his subjects. He had a lesson that studying hard is the key to have good grades and not committing sins.

Committing a sin is not bad. You just have to repent on he sin that you did and promise to do your best not to commit the sin again. It is only natural for a person to commit sins, for humans have the nature to sin. Sins do not state if you're going to Heaven or not. It is the repentance and penitence that you did for your sins.

My Only Wish

I am not handsome, I am not cute,
I'm not very attractive and not a brute,

But even if my face don't look good to you,
I swear to God, that my feelings are true.

I can't give you jewelries, and other fancy things,
But I will try my best, to give you a ring,
Even if I can't give you anything now,
I promise to work hard, to give some somehow.

You can count on me whenever you are down,
I'll always be at your side, I'll always be around,
Don't be afraid to fall, 'cause I'll be there to catch you,
I will not let you cry, because I love you.

You are my only wish, my fantasy and dream,
You are the only light, when my world is dim,
I promise to love you forever, and give my all to you,
Just choose me and be my love, and make my wish come true.
